  • Monday March 21, 2011 - City Council Meeting, Council unanimously named Mario F. Hernandez as the City's Mayor. The Council also unanimously appointed Council member Brenda Esqueda as Mayor Pro-Tem. Congratulations to City of San Fernando newly Elected City Council Members, Antonio Lopez and Silvia Ballin.

  •      Monday March 15th 2010 - City Council Meeting, Council unanimously named Mario F. Hernandez as the City's new Mayor. The Council also unanimously appointed Council member Brenda Esqueda as Mayor Pro-Tem. This is Esqueda's second time in the position after she won election to the Council in 2009.

    New Council:

  • Monday June 1st 2009 - City Council Meeting, Nury Martinez resigned and former Councilmember Brenda Esqueda was appointed by Mayor Pro-Tem Mario F. Hernandez, Council Member Maribel De La Torre and Council Member Ernesto Hernandez to fill the Council vacancy through March 2011.

  • Monday, March 16th 2009 - On this day our newest member Mayor Pro Tem. Mario F. Hernandez along with Council Member Maribel De La Torre were sworn in for a four year term. City Treasurer Margarita Solis who were re-elected to another four-year term as well.

  • Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 - General Municipal Election - This municipal election for the City of San Fernando will elect candidates to three open City seats: two for the City Council and one for the City Treasurer. The total unofficial votes cast results are as follows: Sharron Aisenman (328), Maribel De La Torre (544), Angel Granados (208), Mario Hernandez (458), Henry Romero (308) and for the City Treasurer Margarita Solis (820).

 

 

  • Tuesday, January 20th 2009 - On the same day that President Obama was sworn into office, the results of San Fernando's recall election were officially certified forcing Julie Ruelas and Jose Hernandez to vacate their seats and two residents, Brenda Esqueda and Ernesto Hernandez were sworn in as newly elected city council members. Newly elected city council member Brenda Esqueda was voted in as Mayor Pro Tem. Replacing Jose Hernandez, she will only serve for six weeks as his term was due to expire on Tuesday, March 3rd 2009.

  • Tuesday, January 13th 2009 – First Time in the City’s History San Fernando Residents Voted YES (Jose Hernandez 873 and Julie Ruelas 874) or NO (Jose Hernandez 457 and Julie Ruelas 487). Also voted for Brenda Esqueda(564 votes to replace Jose Hernandez) and Ernesto Hernandez(755 votes to replace Julie Ruelas).

                                                                       

 

  • Thursday, September 11th 2008 – 2048 Valid signatures for Jose Hernandez and 2030 Valid signatures for Julie Ruelas. (Only needed 1771 Valid signatures for each Council Member).

 

 

 

  • Monday, July 21st 2008 – Turned in 2250 signatures for Jose Hernandez and 2220 signatures for Julie Ruelas to City Hall Clerk Elena Chavez.

 

  

  • Tuesday, March 25th 2008 - Recall Group Started Petitioning to get signatures to Recall Jose Hernandez & Julie Ruelas for mismanaging public funds, exercising political favors and holding back development in the community of 25,000 residents.
